I Was Dreaming Of Robotic Toy

I was dreaming to have a robotic friend. A robotic toy named Robie. Robie is not like a human or an animal. He is not a robotic puppy. He is a typical robot, with chain wheels. Robie was my best friend. He slept with me, and played with me. I can talk to him for hours and hours, and he understands me. He could prove it by repeating my stories over and over again. Sometimes he ask me questions, like “how is your feeling now”, or just an encouragement “you can do it friend!” He would nod at me. Sometimes he holds my hand with his robotic arm.

He has 3 arms attach to him. All three arms work differently. One arm is used to touch and hold smooth and delicate thing like eggs, glass, and even my own arm. The other arm is used to have connection with other robot or computer. He has Ethernet connection, power connection, usb port, audio jacks, and he can even put parabolic antenna to communicate with the satellites. The third arm is his handy arm. It can become electric screw driver, scissors, welder, hammer, or anything you can imagine. With this arm Robie always helps me to fix the toy I broke. He can fix everything from fabric doll to mum’s microwave and dad’s car.

I could ask any math problem to him. He can do addition, multiplication and even more complex calculus problems dad always said to me. I don’t even know what calculus is. I know calculus is a professor in my Tintin comic books. He got great memory too. I gave him one fact and Robie remembered it. Even years after that he still got it in his flash disk. In a matter of fact he remembers everything, from my birthday, and reminds me where I put my favorite Faber Castell pencils.

Robie teach me how to play chess. He is a very good player. With him as my mentor I can beat my entire fellow in chess. Robie was more that a robotic toy for me. He was my best friend.

One day Robie met another robot in the supermarket while he bought me candies. He always bought me candies because mum doesn’t let me buy candies by my self. Her name was Jasmine. Since then Robie was different. He talked a lot about Jasmine. How Jasmine sang, and walked, what color were her wheels, and what microprocessor was inside her.

Robie communicate a lot with his Bluetooth and 3G. I had a Bluetooth ear set to communicate with him. Robie gave me clues when my teacher asked me questions. Clues that I can copy as the answers. But he talked to Jasmine since then. He did not want to talk to me. He went at Saturday night with Jasmine. I did not have idea what were they talking about. They talk about workshops, gears, communication, and internet.

One day dad came with a serious face. Dad said that Robie wass leaving us. I do not really understand. Robie marry Jasmine. I like Jasmine, but she took my Robie.

Last month the bell rang. Robie and Jasmine was at the door, with these two little robotic toys. Their names are Top and Tip. They are twin robots. Top is just little Robie, and Tip is just little Jasmine. Robie said Top and Tip are twin robot that they made just for me in 5 month. Wow new friends, new robotic toys. I am very happy.

Once a week Robie calls me, just asking “how are you?” and “how is Top and Tip?”. I am busy with Top and Tip now. But I still miss Robie. I wish Robie is always with me.

Last night dad came to me. He told me that Robie was his favorite toy. He gave me Robie when I was born. Dad told me to keep Top and Tip, and teach them the values we have. One day Top and Tip will become stars among the robotic toys in the next millennium. He said also that someday I will leave mum and dad too like Robie. I do not understand it. I love them; I do not want to leave them.
